The theme is The Teutonic Orders and their enemies – and their enemies’ enemies who were active in 1217. This creates a diverse web of armies ranging from Korea and China, through the Steppes and Syria to the marshes of the Baltic States and then on to medieval Germany. It even includes Vikings – what is there not to like!
The basic idea is that you start with the Teutonic Orders army (List IV/30) and then choose one of their listed enemies or follow the trail to choose one of the enemies’ enemies.
Why? Well, 2017 is the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Otepaa during the Baltic Crusades when the Russians and Estonians defeated the German Crusaders. It just seemed an opportunity to give the battle some exposure!
