Possibly not the most exciting news we have ever posted, however if you are planning your budget for Britcon down to the last few groats you may be interested to know that the full bar and meal menu for for Britcon is now available to download from our website 

The catering team are also planning on offering a bit of a table service again this year - so if you are nose-down at a vital moment in your game when they arrive, please do try to tell them to go away politely ! 

In a move almost guaranteed to divide all of this year's Britcon attendees into "Notherners" and "Southerners"  in much the same way as the English Civil War divided Royalist and Cavalier, or the Wars of the Roses divided Yorkists and Lancastrians, the BHGS  are pleased to be able to publish the bar tariff for this year's Britcon.

We think these are great bar prices, however we do appreciate that whether you are now either marveling at the amazing value on offer and wondering how anyone can sell 2 pints for "less than the price of a skinny mocha-cappa-latte", or muttering darkly under your breath something along the lines of "back in my day I's have expected to get a side order of chips and a ride home in the landlords Austin Allegro for that sort of money..." is probably going to differ based on whether you are travelling "up" or "down" to Britcon this year!

 Britcon is great for selling stuff on the Bring and Buy, as if you are a player you will definitely be there to the end of the weekend giving maximum time for your stuff to be seen, and sold. 

We can also help you out by giving you the chance to complete your Bring & Buy entry form in advance (and as Colin is short-staffed this year, it will help him too!). The form is available on the Britcon Bring & Buy page


In the Bring and Buy area we will also have a "tabletop sale" from Jonathon Smith, who recently was bequeathed the wargames collection of a long time friend and fellow gamer by the name of Stephen Atkinson, who sadly passed away in April of this year after a battle against cancer. Jonathon has been asked by Stephen's widow to help her husband's collection go to a good home, and will be selling off the collection at Britcon and raising money for St.Lukes Hospice Winsford (who looked afteer Stephen) and also for the SAMA82 charity for Falklands Veterans in the process. You can get a preview of what Jonathon will have for sale on the Facebook page he has set up for Stephen  

This Year at Britcon we have an Official Guild Ball Tournament at the Regional Cup level

The event will be managed by the team from Steamforged Games, whow ill be on hand to help out and generally encourage the mayhem to run smoothly!

Gaming in the other periods at Britcon carries on until around 730pm on Saturday, so the Guildball tables will still be set up and available for your use in friendly games on Saturday evening until the other periods finish up. After this we have the Beer, Burgers and Bullets evening  in the University Bar which all Guildball players are of course welcome to join in with as well. 

Firstly, thanks to all of  our Britcon competitors who replied to our survey about organising an event on Saturday evening of Britcon to run after the games finish. With a massive 92% of you saying that you would were interested in some sort of social event on the Saturday evening, we have been able to convince the Uni bars and catering team to run a

                  "Beers, Burgers and Bullets"

evening upstairs in the bar onsite in the venue on Saturday evening!
What this means is that we will be offering:

• - draft beer, 
  
• - "gourmet" burgers and chips (that's "fries" for those of you who live south of Watford)
  
• - other BBQ stuff as well
  

as well as...

• - comfy chairs
  
• - regular tables set up for social gaming 
  
• - a couple of "classic" war movies playing on a 60" screen in the corner (almost certainly of the "everyone can 'sing along' with the dialogue" kind!)
  

Pricing for everything on the menu is yet to be determined, but the Uni have told us that they are able to do a special advance purchase rate of £10 for a gourmet burger, chips and a pint!

This will be bookable in advance or you can pay on Friday when you arrive at the venue - so, let your friends and clubmates know, and start to plan out your full Britcon Weekend with the BHGS !
