The BHGS Burton Doubles
20-21 February 2027

Picture
From 2027 onwards The BHGS are picking up the baton from BAD Wargamers in Burton to continue running the 30+ year old "Burton Doubles" event (even though not all of the events use a  "Pairs" format"!).

The BHGS Burton Doubles will now be running in the usual venue of the Burton Town Hall over the weekend of 20th & 21st February 2027.

There will also be a full suite of the usual BHGS Prizes & Trophies for the winners.

Burton is the home of British brewing, with many great pubs and microbreweries in the town (as well as the major brewers), making it ideal for a weekend wargames competition.

There is a Travelodge budget hotel within a couple of minutes walk of the venue, and a number of similar budget branded hotels (Premier Inn etc) in and around Burton as well.

In 2027 we are also aiming to offer the opportunity to pre-book a Sunday Lunch at the venue, as for some reason none of the local pubs seen to serve any food on Sundays.

Full details to follow once we confirm prices with the catering team.

For 2027 we will be staging the following events.

  • L'Art de la Guerre Doubles
  • DBMM Doubles
  • DBA - "The Mercian" Doubles (1 day, Saturday 20th only)
  • Field of Glory Ancient & Medieval (Singles)
  • Mortem et Gloriam (Singles)
  • Renatio et Gloriam (Singles)
  • Field of Glory Renaissance Singles (Details coming in September)
  • Saga (TBC)
  • Barons War (TBC)

We aim to publish event specific themes shortly

For future years our aim is to work towards broadly synchronising all of the "Ancients" ruleset's themes so they are all playing similar periods each year. Each rulesets will have it's own specific cutoff dates relating to how its lists are written, but in general they should (eventually!) align into these 6 generic themes.

2027.   Period 5 – 1000 - 1300 (Feudal)
2028.   Period 6 – 1300 - 1500AD (High Medieval)
2029.   Period 1 – 3000BC - 500BC (Chariot era)
2030.   Period 2 – 500 BC - 0 AD (Classical era)
2031.   Period 3  – 0AD - 500AD (Imperial Rome)
2032.   Period 4 – 500 -1000 (Early Feudal Ages)

We are also always looking at other themes and periods - if you are interested in running either a 1-day or 2 day event please contact us
