Lard Workshop 2026

We are delighted to welcome back Too Fat Lardies "Lard Workshop" to Britcon again in 2026

Lard Workshop 2026 is an official Too Fat Lardies games day, with TFL dignitaries Richard Clarke, Nick Skinner and Sidney Roundwood in attendance, with the whole Lardy shebang being masterminded on their behalf by Don Avis. 

Lard Workshop 2026 will take place on Saturday 8th August and as usual there will be the option of joining the other attendees in the traditional social beer and curry in a local Indian restaurant in the evening.

There are currently 13 great games lined up covering all the big Lardy favourites including@
  •     Chain of Command - a Panzer Lehr scenario set in Normandy 1944 run by Richard Clarke
  •     Go Commando - a concept game of small unit squad actions being developed by Nick Skinner
  •     When the Last Sword is Drawn - a Samurai themed game set in 16th century Japan run by Sidney Roundhead
  •     Midgard Fantasy set during the first age as featured in the Silmarillion and run by the rules author James Morris
  •     Midgard Historical a refight of the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and all that
  •     Vexillarios - the new ancients rules in the course of editing. A Roman vs Carthaginian fight demonstrating the rules run by the rules author David Brown
  •     The Full Nelson set in the Napoleonic age of sail. These rules will likely be published later this year. There are two participation games running so as many players can get to try them with one game being run by Charley Walker the rules author
  •     Strength and Honour - the rule set written with 2mm figures in mind but this time showcasing the game in 13mm epic scale recreating the battle of Lake Trasimene between Romeverses Cartage, again ran by the rules author Mark Backhouse.
  •     A What a Cowboy adaptation based around the French retreat from Moscow in 1812 and yet again ran by the Rules Author
  •     10. A Sharp Practice game set in the American Civil War
  •     Two more games of Chain of Command, one set in October 1940 featuring the German attack on Greece and a Big Chain of Command game set in Russia 1943.

This fee includes access to;
  • LARD WORKSHOP on the Saturday.
  • a packed lunch on the Saturday (sandwich, drink crisps etc.) delivered to the hall.
  • a £5 Trader Loot voucher which can be spent at one of the many traders who will be in attendance over the weekend at the Britcon trade show.
  • a well-stocked student bar and the Britcon Trade show, 
You are of course welcome to spend your Trader Loot voucher at Too Fat Lardies! If you wish to do this, please let Don Avis know your requirements by Friday 7th August so Richard can bring along the required goodies and TFL will take payment (Trader Voucher and cash please) at the event. You can order anything from the Too Fat Lardies shop including both physical items (rules, tokens, dice etc.) and virtual items (PDF’s, Pint Sized Campaigns etc.).

Variety is the spice of life!

A full list of games is produced about two weeks before the event when signed up players will able too indicate your preferred choice of games. We will do our best to ensure that everyone gets at least one of their choices, but if this is not possible – fear not – every game will be fantastic!
